Patrick Fisher’s love for riding motorcycles has always been at the core of who he is.
What started as a simple hobby grew into a sense of community when he created the Facebook group "Okanogan Motorcycle Enthusiasts," a space where like-minded riders could gather, share their passion and go on group rides.
Little did he know, this group would eventually lead to something much more colorful— and charitable—than he could have imagined.
In the early days, the Samaritan Riders, a local charity group, took notice of Fisher's motorcycle community and invited them to join their efforts in parades and community events. As the group began to grow, the request to participate in more community activities became a natural next step. It was during a holiday toy drive that Fisher's Grinch journey truly began.
“There was already a Santa Claus, Jeff Shiflett, and he had a Grinch costume he wasn’t able to wear. So, I said "Well, I’ll wear it," Fisher said. "And that’s how I became the Grinch."
That year, in 2022, marked the beginning of what would become an annual tradition of Fisher donning the Grinch costume for parades, Christmas events and toy drives, spreading holiday cheer in his unique way.
In the years since, Patrick has embraced the Grinch persona with zeal, adding a Grinch patch to his jacket and riding in parades on a small motorcycle, a gift to himself for his new role.
After seeing the community's reception to the Grinch, he's also embraced a new role in the spring time as the Easter Bunny.
“Some love the characters, some don’t," he said. "It’s all about the age group—kids either love it or they’re scared."
Behind the costumes, however, is a man who’s simply looking to spread joy and make a difference. His fondness for community outreach may also stem from his deep family roots.
His late father, Edwin ‘Allen’ Fisher, was a well-known Shriner in the Okanogan area, wore the Shiner's dog suit for several year.
For Patrick, the Grinch costume is more than just a fun gig; it’s a reminder of the impact he can make in the community. The character itself has become a symbol of transformation, of redemption, and of the power of kindness.
Whether he’s suited up as the Grinch or the Easter Bunny, Fisher’s heart is always in the right place. And while the Grinch may have started as an unexpected role, it’s clear that Patrick Fisher was born for it. ♦
